Cardiovascular Emergency Center
Organ Transplant Center
Bucheon Sejong Hospital, which was the 3rd hospital in Korea to
perform a heart transplant (and the first private hospital to do so)
During the early days of heart transplant surgery in the 1990s
The heart transplant center provides safe and systematic professional health care for
patients with terminal heart disease who need the transplantation
A heart transplant is a procedure that completely removes the diseased heart of a terminally ill heart failure patient who cannot otherwise be treated, and then completely replaces it with the heart of a healthy donor. In Korea, myocardial disease accounts for about 70% of all heart disease, and coronary artery disease accounts for less than 10%. It is difficult to expect any further improvement to be made in these figures caused by medical or surgical treatment. In the case of children, congenital heart malformation and myocardial disease are the main heart diseases.
